U.S.S. Helios

Originally set in the 29th century, this PBeM (Play By eMail) freestyle sim is centered around a Federation timeship which - due to a malfunctioning engine - ends up being hurtled through time and space. Doing their best to stay out of history's way, the crew now tries to return to their own time.

In the year 2835, the U.S.S. Helios NCC-728096 - under the command of Captain Malcolm Wyler - is sent on a mission to test the prototype of a new temporal engine. This prototype is the result of one of the most important joint-ventures between the Federation and the Dominion since their alliance nearly a century ago. The Helios, a small vessel with a crew complement of approximately 150 and equipped with state-of-the-art technology had been commissioned only a few months ago. Using routine maintenance checkups as a cover up, the new engine was installed and the first test runs were conducted under the supervision of Lieutenant Ayleece, a temporal mechanics specialist and member of Starfleet Intelligence.

The initial test runs were successful and Wyler and his crew were just about to wrap up the mission and return home when the plasma surge of an exploding transport vessel severely damaged the Helios seconds before their last time jump. Unable to abort the operation, they were taken back to the late 24th century where they attempted to repair the ship. Both the temporal and transwarp drives were seriously damaged and the number of casualties was high.

Thus, the number of problems they encounter in their attempt to return to their own time seems infinite. They manage to repair the temporal engine for the most part, but they are still unable to determine how 'far' they jump in time... Full power to the transwarp drive is almost restored, but it takes on a habit of randomly sending them into different mirror universes instead of to different places in their own universe... They need new crew and spare parts to repair their ship, but how can you get that without interfering too much with the timeline?
